Entrance to desert castle "Qasr al-Kharrana" east of Amman. The castle is a beautiful example of early 8th century Islamic art and architecture. Jordans "castles" actually served various purposes as caravan stations, agriculture and trade centers, resort pavilions and outposts that helped distant rulers forge ties with local bedouins.
